Audio alerts are a type of notification method that Intrado Revolution software provides to help customers communicate critical information, grab the audience’s attention, and maintain safety. Revolution is an emergency mass notification platform that redefines the standards of interoperable communications by connecting systems, people, and processes.
In this blog, we’ll cover the different type of audio notifications available in Revolution and provide examples of how each type could be used in a building.
Seven Types of Audio Notification Types Available to use with Revolution:
Answer Notifications
This type of alert is used to send a notification to multiple IP phones, requesting someone to answer. The notification displays an Accept button on the phone. As soon as someone presses Accept, all other endpoints are dropped, and the notification becomes a two-way conversation between a caller and responder. You can include speakers as endpoints so that your notification can be heard by people who may not be near a phone. However, a responder cannot accept the call from a speaker, even if it is a talk-back speaker.
Conference Notifications
This notification type is used to create a conference call during an emergency; quickly bringing all important stakeholders together to discuss the situation in hand. You can include IP talkback speakers as endpoints so that your conversation can be heard by personnel who may not be near their IP phone.
Intercom Notifications
Intercom notifications is used when you want to create an intercom between two endpoints. There are two audio types you can use to create an intercom – Two-Way and Direct Two-Way:
- Two-Way allows you to create an intercom between a phone and another talkback endpoint, such as a talk-back speaker.
- Direct Two-Way allows you to create an intercom between two IP devices, such as two talk-back speakers.
Live Broadcast/Paging Notifications
This type of notification is used to make a live announcement to phones and speakers located throughout your facility. Live broadcasts can be set up to alert one or many devices. This is often referred to as paging because it is commonly used to share information with people across multiple endpoints (e.g., overhead speakers). Live broadcast notifications are initiated by dialing a line number extension from a phone on your network and using the phone as a microphone to share your message.
Recorded Audio Alerts
This type of notification is used to record an announcement on-the-fly from a phone before it is sent to the designated devices. Unlike a one-way live broadcast, recorded audio notifications give senders the opportunity to review and re-record their message before it is broadcasted. Recorded notifications are initiated by dialing a line number extension.
Stored Audio Notifications
Simply put, stored audio notifications play an audio file that is stored in Revolution’s media library. Revolution includes a media library complete with various audio voice recordings, tones, and images for users to include with their notifications. Customers can also upload their own custom files.
Text-to-Speech (TTS)
This type of notification is used when you want the message content digitally translated to speech and sent to your endpoints. Translation occurs at the time the notification is triggered. Revolution’s built-in translation application is powered by Microsoft TTS.
